I deeply understand how profoundly headaches, migraines and neurological conditions can affect every part of a person’s life. I recognise the physical pain, emotional toll, and frustration that come with living through repeated flare-ups, trying multiple medications, and still not finding lasting relief. Many patients come to me after years of uncertainty, anxiety and countless unsuccessful treatments.
I am also highly experienced in supporting people who are experiencing symptoms for the first time and are looking for answers, guidance and reassurance early in their journey. I bring not only extensive clinical expertise, but also genuine compassion and care to every patient, understanding that behind each symptom is a person seeking a highly professional options with clarity, comfort, and hope.
I am a Consultant Neurologist at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust and Professor of Neurology at the University of Birmingham. I am one of the UK’s leading experts in headache, migraine and intracranial pressure disorders. My extensive work in this field has shaped both clinical practice and research, and my expertise is recognised internationally.
With over a decade of consultant-level experience, I specialise in the diagnosis and management of complex headache disorders, including migraine, cluster headache, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, low pressure headaches, facial pain, trigeminal neuralgia, and post-traumatic headaches. I have particular expertise in advanced migraine therapies, including botulinum toxin (Botox) injections, CGRP inhibitor treatments, and nerve blocks.
My training and academic career are equally distinguished. I graduated with honours from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2000 and completed my specialist training in neurology in the UK, obtaining my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 2012. I went on to complete a PhD focused on neurological research and undertook a clinical fellowship in headache medicine.
Patients seeing me can be reassured that they are in the hands of someone who combines deep medical expertise with a warm, patient-centred approach. I offer consultations both in person and remotely (via Zoom or telephone), depending on your preference.
