I am a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and Robotic Surgeon at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, with a broad and established practice covering upper gastrointestinal surgery, bariatric (weight loss) surgery and emergency general surgery. I provide specialist surgical care for patients across Worcester and Worcestershire, combining modern surgical techniques with a strong focus on patient safety, outcomes and service development.

My clinical practice includes benign upper GI surgery, bariatric surgery, emergency general surgery, diagnostic endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery, and robotic upper GI and bariatric procedures. I have completed advanced specialist training in bariatric and robotic surgery, including the GORE Bariatric Fellowship (2023) and the Johnson & Johnson Bariatric Trainee Pathway (2024), enabling me to deliver contemporary, evidence‑based minimally invasive surgery in Worcester.

I hold FRCS (2022), MRCS, a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, and a Postgraduate Award in Healthcare Skills from Warwick Medical School. My surgical training spanned multiple UK centres of excellence, culminating in advanced fellowships in bariatric and robotic surgery.

Within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, I have held key leadership roles including Bariatric and Robotic Upper GI Programme Lead and Governance Lead for General Surgery. In these roles, I have led service development initiatives such as the design of bariatric care pathways, introduction of mobile theatre facilities, and coordination of multidisciplinary rotas across training grades.

I am an NIHR i4i‑funded researcher, currently completing a part‑time MD investigating Raman spectroscopy for in‑vivo endoscopic diagnostics. My earlier funded research explored the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in organ preservation. I have authored over 30 peer‑reviewed publications and book chapters, including work published in The British Journal of Surgery, BJS Open and Surgical Practice.

I have contributed extensively to major national surgical audits including RIFT, HART, ARROW, PANC and NASBO, often as a local lead or regional collaborator. I am currently a regional representative for the Sunflower Study, the UK’s largest NIHR HTA‑funded randomised trial in gallstone disease.

I am deeply committed to surgical education and training, serving as faculty for Core and Higher Surgical Trainee simulation teaching in the West Midlands. I am also an ATLS and CCrISP Instructor and have organised laparoscopic workshops supported by industry partners including Ethicon. Previously, I have served as an Honorary Clinical Tutor at the University of Bristol and for the Severn School of Surgery.

I combine clinical excellence, research innovation, service leadership and education, delivering high‑quality upper GI, bariatric and robotic surgery in Worcester and across Worcestershire with a collaborative, patient‑centred approach.
