Mrs Anitha Thirumalaivelu

Audiologist and Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser

BSc (Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences), MSc (Speech and Hearing)

"Spire Murrayfield Hospital is my local private healthcare champion unit and I enjoy working here as the atmosphere is patient friendly and the quality of care provided to patients is world class"

I am a Clinical Audiologist with extensive experience in assessing and supporting patients with hearing and balance concerns.

I provide comprehensive hearing assessments, including pure tone audiometry and tympanometry, to help diagnose hearing loss and guide the most appropriate treatment. I also offer the fitting and ongoing support of the latest digital hearing aids, as well as repairs and follow-up care to ensure patients get the most from their devices.

Alongside this, I support patients with tinnitus and balance-related issues, including assessments such as video head impulse testing. I also provide custom ear moulds, including swim plugs and noise protection, tailored to individual needs.

My approach is focused on clear communication and personalised care, taking time to understand how hearing difficulties are affecting each patient’s daily life and providing practical solutions to improve confidence and wellbeing.

I began my career in audiology following specialist training in hearing, speech and language sciences, and have worked within the NHS since 2006. I am also involved in teaching, mentoring audiology students from the University of Manchester.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and making the most of time together.
