Specialises in
I have been a Consultant Ophthalmologist for over 10 years, specialising in medical retina and cataract surgery. I care for patients with a wide range of eye conditions, particularly complex retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion and uveitis.
A large part of my work focuses on helping patients manage long-term eye conditions, preserving vision and maintaining quality of life. I also perform cataract surgery and laser treatments, including procedures to treat post-cataract changes. Alongside this, I treat minor eyelid conditions and deliver intravitreal injections for retinal disease.
My training has taken me internationally, with postgraduate qualifications and an MD in ophthalmology completed in India, followed by specialist training and fellowships here in the Mersey region. This broad experience allows me to offer patients a personalised, evidence-based approach to their care.
I aim to make every consultation clear and reassuring, ensuring patients feel fully informed and supported when making decisions about their treatment.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, walking and cooking, which helps me relax and switch off from a busy clinical practice.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Miss Indu Kumar at Spire include:
