Professional profile

I am a Consultant in Sport & Exercise Medicine at the English Institute of Sport in Manchester and am the England Netball Team Doctor. I have previously worked with elite athletes in Football as the first-team Doctor at Everton FC, Swimming, Athletics and Rugby League. My NHS practice is the Joint Health Integrated Musculoskeletal service at Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust.

I specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries, musculoskeletal pain and exercise related medical symptoms such as breathing difficulties, fatigue and underperformance.

I place great importance in working alongside other healthcare professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team to optimise non-surgical management options for my patients, including rehabilitation and utilising treatments such as Ultrasound guided injections and Shockwave therapy if appropriate. I use Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in my daily practice to enhance clinical assessment.

I have recently been appointed as sports and exercise Doctor for team GB at the 2020 Paralympic games in Tokyo.

Personal Profile

I am married and have two amazing young children. In my spare time I enjoy playing and watching any sport, I previously played rugby union but hung up my boots in my late 20s and have been afflicted by the common middle aged male addiction to triathlon. I'm currently training for my first half Ironman.
