Specialises in

I have practised as a clinical psychologist for over 20 years and cover a wide spectrum of mental health problems in adults. I attained the highest mark within my Undergraduate Applied Psychology course, and subsequently completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

I specialise in assisting clients with a very broad range of adult mental health problems, including; depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, anger management, panic disorder, relationship problems, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bereavement, worrying, work stress, bereavement, adjustment and adaptation challenges, low self-esteem, psychological obstacles to success, and assertiveness problems.

I also specialise in very detailed psychological assessments, including medico-legal reports (eg in relation to personal injury litigation cases). With my recent educational achievements and practical experience within the sport psychology domain, combined with both an extensive skill set from my prior clinical psychology experience and my exceptional prior grounding in applied psychology; I also firmly believe that I have a special platform for assisting clients in what could be broadly termed as life coaching and achieving targeted improvements in performance.

I have assisted many hundreds of adults within mental health problems since commencing my training in 1993 and post qualification from 1996. I work with many adult clients every week.

I have had responsibility for providing psychology services within a range of different contexts within the last 20 years. This has sometimes involved giving psychological consultation to other professionals working with clients with mental health problems. I have also had responsibility for managing and training trainee clinical psychologists and assistant psychologists, during my work within the NHS.

I have over 20 years of experience in clinical psychology. My experience in clinical psychology is centred on helping adults with a very broad range of mental health and life problems. I work primarily through a cognitive behavioural framework and have provided regular clinical psychology input in hospital and occupational settings within the last fifteen years. In addition to my clinical psychology commitments, I have returned to education and studied a taught Masters in Sport Psychology at University of North Wales at Bangor. I have completed seven out of the eight modules to date, and achieved the highest classification 'distinction' in each of the seven modules.

I worked with the NHS from 1993-2001 for Clwyd and Gwynedd Health Trusts, providing teaching and lecturing input at Bangor University from 1992-1993, and 1997-2004.

I am married with two teenage sons (aged thirteen and fourteen), an adult step-son and an adult step-daughter (both aged in their mid-twenties). My family is my main focus and priority. We have a family dog, a King Charles Cavalier, who is very central to the family. Along with my sons, I have an interest in various sports. Among other interests, I enjoy playing cards (poker) and have recently begun metal detecting. Within the house we have a small gym and a games room - with the games room seeming to get more use than the gym. My wife and I enjoy walks along local beaches. We also read and probably watch too much television!
