I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon since 1992 and a Consultant in Royal Liverpool Hospitals (my current position) since 2010. I have a wealth of experience in Urology having trained and worked in the UK and abroad. I perform a variety of Urological operations as listed and train juniors and registrars to the highest standard. I am a Clinical and Education Supervisor for Junior Doctors and a Honorary Lecturer at Liverpool Medical University where I teach medical students.
I have introduced a number of new procedures in my department including transperineal prostate biopsy, bladder botox injection, Urolift for benign prostate enlargement. I am also in the process of introducing further new procedures such as Rezum steam treatment for prostate enlargement and outpatient laser treatment for bladder cancers. I lead the Urodynamic unit and perform both standard and video urodynamics and accept referrals from other hospitals in the region.
I specialise in diagnostic and day case surgery. I perform all lower urinary tract endoscopic surgery as well as peno-scrotal surgery, to name some: Trans urethral resection of prostate, Transurethral resection of bladder tumours, endoscopic removal of stones, urethral stricture operations, circumcision, hydrocele operation, testicular surgery, bent penis straightening surgery, vasectomy and reversal, Urolift, bladder Botox injection, cystodiathermy, cystodistension, diagnostic cystoscopy, prostate and bladder biopsy, urodynamics and laser procedures.
I am the Lead Clinician for Urodynamics in my Trust and accept referrals from within and outside the trust. I perform Standard and Video Urodynamics and referrals come from as far as the Isle of Man. I am also the lead clinician for incontinence management within my trust. I am the Innovation Lead for Urology and in that capacity I have introduced new technology such as Urolift, Botox®, transperineal biopsy and outpatient laser treatment, etc.
Additional: I am also an Education and Clinical Supervisor for trainees and a University Lecturer for teaching medical students.

Personal profile
I am quite an all rounder in terms of work-life balance. Apart from insatiable enthusiasm in my clinical work and my love for teaching, I have great interest in sports, music and travelling. I captained my basketball team in school and play cricket, badminton and tennis. I like cycling and support the reds. My interest in music is varied and I am learning to play the guitar.
My family consists of my wife, who is a popular local GP, and a daughter who is a dentist in Surrey. She is now married and we are eagerly looking forward to becoming grandparents.
Medicine runs in my blood. My father was a Surgeon and a Professor and my sister is a leading Paediatrician in India. I always look forward to waking up and going to work.
