I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Hip and Knee surgery at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Spire Liverpool Hospital.
I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1999. I completed general training in Nottingham and specialist training in Cambridge before going on to gain a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009 and joining the GMC Specialist Register in 2010. I have been a consultant since 2011.
I was awarded a specialist fellowship in Vancouver, Canada to expand my experience dealing with complex conditions. I have visited multiple centres in Europe and North America and attended many conferences worldwide to stay up to date with the latest techniques.
I regularly teach on regional and national courses. I have ongoing research interests and has presented my work nationally and internationally. I have held several management and clinical leadership positions with his NHS Trust and have been on a NICE committee to develop national guidelines on antibiotic stewardship.
I regularly assess patients with knee problems and am able to offer a wide range of surgical procedures including Keyhole surgery for sports injuries (meniscal tears and ligament reconstructions) as well as partial and total knee replacements for arthritis. I also perform Osteotomies around the knee (using computer aided design) to realign the leg and offload a part of the knee which may be affected by arthritis – this can be a useful alternative for people who are too young to consider joint replacement surgery. Within Cheshire and Merseyside, I am one of a handful of surgeons currently trialing Robotic knee replacement surgery.
In addition, I regularly assess patients with hip problems and performs hip replacement surgery for arthritis.
Using my breadth of skills and experience, I aim to deliver high quality patient care.
