I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee conditions, with a particular focus on joint replacement surgery and the management of complex problems affecting mobility.
I treat a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, sports injuries and joint pain, offering both non-surgical treatments such as arthrosamid injections and advanced surgical options where needed. My work includes primary hip and knee replacements, as well as more complex revision (re-do) procedures, helping patients regain function and reduce pain.
I trained in the UK after completing my medical degree overseas, with specialist orthopaedic training in the Mersey region. I have also undertaken fellowship training in lower limb arthroplasty at the renowned Wrightington Hospital, as well as further specialist experience in young adult hip conditions.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in teaching and education, contributing to national exams and supporting the development of future surgeons. I also hold an academic role and regularly contribute to research and professional education.
I take time to understand each patient’s goals and concerns, providing clear advice and tailored treatment plans to support the best possible outcomes.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and being involved in the local community.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr P Nithin Unnikrishnan at Spire include:
