I was the first Plastic Surgeon in the UK to be trained in Mohs surgery, and one of only a few in the world. I am the Lead clinician for the Mersey & Cheshire Mohs Centre, and offer both Mohs surgery and Plastic surgical Reconstruction to give optimal results. I have a specialist interest in Skin cancer treatment, having gained an MD higher degree in skin cancer diagnostic methods, and published over 50 research articles.
I specialise in skin cancer treatment, including Mohs surgery for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma treatment. I also specialise in reconstructive surgery, including complex facial reconstruction. I am trained in both Mohs surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive surgery.
In the last four years I have performed over 600 Mohs surgery procedures, and over 800 facial surgery procedures including complex nose, cheek, ear and eyelid reconstructions.
I am the Mohs surgery Lead clinician for the Mersey & Cheshire Skin Cancer Network Group I am the Lead Mohs surgeon for St Helens & Whiston Hospitals I am the Audit & Research Lead clinician for the Plastic surgery Department at Whiston Hospital.
I have been a member of various UK groups, including: - UK Mohs surgery Standards group, which aims to optimise Mohs surgery care in the UK - UK Skin cancer Diagnostics advisory group, set up to investigate the best methods to diagnose skin cancer - Raman spectroscopy advisory group, which aims to investigate new imaging techniques in skin cancer.
I am a core member of the Specialist Skin Multidisciplinary team for the Mersey & Cheshire Skin Cancer Network Group.
I am a senior trainer of junior surgeons, and have taught Plastic surgeons, Maxillo-facial surgeons, Ophthalmologists and Dermatologists from both the UK and USA. I am a senior trainer for the Royal College of Surgeons, training on their Facial Reconstruction Course.
