Mr Haider Syed
MBBS, Dip (Urol), MSc (Urol), FRSCI, FRCS (Urol), FEBU
I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon since 2000. I am currently based at Good Hope Hospital, part of University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and my private practice is based at Spire Little Aston Hospital, Sutton Coldfield. I am a general urologist with a special interest in kidney stones, providing the most modern advanced investigation and treatment. I am one of the most experienced kidney stone surgeons in the Midlands and have been the Clinical Lead Surgeon for kidney stones at Good Hope Hospital since 2005.
The quality and provision of a medical service depend on good teamwork. I have an excellent and experienced team consisting of a Consultant Uro-Radiologist, senior group of Consultant Anaesthetists, specialist endourology trained theatre nursing staff and support team.
My national data on the treatment of complex kidney stones since 2014 is available on National Audit published yearly by the British Association of Urological Surgeons, BAUS. I also undergo '360° independent feedback' from both my colleagues and Spire Little Aston patients.
During the last 20 years, I have presented and published my clinical work at national and international forums, the World Congress of Endourology, European Urology Meeting, and the British Association of Urology Meeting and regional conferences. I have also published my clinical work in national and international journals.
I am a regional and national Urology Trainer, accredited by the General Medical Council. I am a Clinical and Educational Supervisor. I have trained Senior Registrars in Urology for over 15 years, who are now eminent Consultant Urological Surgeons across the UK, America and Australia.
In addition, I have set up a one-stop prostate and PSA clinic, which provides rapid investigation and diagnosis of all prostate problems. A fast track haematuria clinic (blood in the urine) helps to identify any serious cancer in the kidneys, bladder or prostate. The quality and provision of a medical service depends on good teamwork. I have an excellent and experienced team consisting of an interventional radiologist, anaesthetists, specialist nursing staff and support team.
A GP referral is desirable but not essential should you prefer to book a consultation directly.
