Mr Brian Banerjee
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon
MB BS, MSc, FRCS
I've been a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Little Aston for over 20 years. Over the years I have done a few thousand joint replacements, mainly knees and hips. I have also done knee arthroscopic surgery - several thousands of them. I have been one of the highest practising surgeons both in the NHS and in the private sector.
My speciality is lower limb surgery with a keen interest in the knee, over 80% of my patients attend my clinic with knee problems. I have been in the Guinness World Book of Records for successful hip surgery on the oldest lady.
I have given lectures extensively all over the world and I have also published many papers. The Heart of England Trust is the second biggest orthopaedic unit in the country. I have held the post of programme director for teaching and training. I was the lead for clinical governance and I was the clinical director of the orthopaedic unit for over 12 years.
In the last 12 months, I have been to five countries in relation to the latest advancement in trauma and orthopaedics the USA, Germany, India, Romania and Ireland. This makes me at ease with the latest technologies and whatever is available worldwide.
I am proud to be the surgeon for Aston Villa, Premier League Football Club.
