Professional profile

I am the surgical chief and founder of the ‘Hernia Centre Dr. Muschaweck’ in Munich, the largest European Centre that exclusively specialises in hernias of the abdominal wall and groin region. Since 1989 I have worked solely on developing techniques in hernia surgery. I took up residence in my own medical practice as a surgical specialist in 1993 and since then have worked exclusively in the field of hernia surgery.

I have developed one surgical method under local anaesthesia over 10 years, which has revolutionised patient care: The ‘Minimal Repair Technique’ (Muschaweck Repair), specifically developed for sportsman’s groin in athletes. I successfully treat many top athletes from all over the world, enabling them to start training again just a few days after surgery. In my Hernia Centre in Munich, more than 27,000 patients have successfully been operated on equating to 1,400 operations per year. In September 2010, I gained full registration at the GMC, UK as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration. I am part of the multidisciplinary team for the specialist Hip and Groin Service at Perform Physiotherapy located here at Spire Little Aston Hospital.
