Mr Craig Burnett
BSc (1st Hons), MBBS (London), FRCOphth
Having finished my Basic Surgical Training in Bristol and then my Higher Surgical Training in Cambridge I obtained my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Ophthalmology and gained entry in the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council. I subsequently completed a sub-specialist Fellowship in glaucoma and received the International Glaucoma Association Research Award in 2005/06. My MD thesis, entitled 'Neuroprotection in Glaucoma', was registered in 2006/07. During my surgical electives from 1994 to 1997 I was pleased to gain experience at the University of North Carolina (USA), the Republic of China (Taipei), and East Africa (Kenya).
I was appointed by the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust as a consultant in ophthalmology with a special interest in glaucoma. I am in charge of providing a tertiary referral Glaucoma Service for the Region of East Yorkshire. I enjoy teaching and lecturing medical students, opticians, other doctors and glaucoma experts.
I like to stay at the forefront of medicine and surgery by keeping an active interest in research and developments and attending, as well as presenting at international conferences.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Craig Burnett at Spire include:
