I am a Consultant Cardiologist with specialist interest in heart failure and cardiac devices, employed at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. I also provide heart failure services at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trusts. I am passionate about delivering high quality, efficient, patient-centered care.

I see patients who present with a variety of cardiology symptoms including: breathlessness after activity or at rest, feeling tired most of the time and finding exercise exhausting, swollen ankles and legs. As a cardiologist I also see patients with chest pain, palpitations, dizziness and blackouts.

I am trained as a specialist in heart failure. After successfully completing a fellowship in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation at Scottish Advanced National Heart Failure Services, Golden Jubilee Hospital, Glasgow, I further enhanced my training and knowledge by undertaking a research fellowship in heart failure at Hull followed by subspecialty training in Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

I am also trained in cardiac devices and undertook a one year fellowship in the highest volume centre for cardiac devices in the UK, Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Once I was appointed as a consultant in heart failure and devices in Hull University Teaching Hospitals, I took the opportunity to develop an underdeveloped area of cardiology in Hull cardiac devices:

• Established the first nurse/physiologist led loop implant service in Hull
• Developed pathways that enabled patients to go home the same day after their devices procedure, saving time for patient and freeing up beds for hospital
• Started the first sub-cutaneous ICD service
• Recently established the pacemaker/defibrillator lead extraction services for East Yorkshire and Humber region
