I am a Consultant Haematologist with specialist expertise in bleeding disorders, thrombosis and haemostasis. I have over 10 years of experience in haematology and more than 15 years of clinical experience in medicine, caring for patients across the United Kingdom, Singapore and the Philippines. My particular interests include haemophilia, von Willebrand disease, inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, inherited and acquired platelet disorders, obstetric haematology, and the prevention and treatment of blood clots. I am the Centre Director of the Hull Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre and have been involved in introducing innovative therapies for haemophilia, including being among the first clinicians in the UK to gain experience with Marstacimab, a novel therapy for severe haemophilia B. I am committed to providing personalised, evidence-based care tailored to each patient's individual needs and circumstances
I specialise in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of blood and clotting disorders, including haemophilia, von Willebrand disease, inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, inherited and acquired platelet disorders, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, antiphospholipid syndrome and other thrombotic conditions. I provide specialist assessment for patients with unexplained bleeding, bruising or abnormal clotting results, and expert perioperative support for patients undergoing surgery or invasive procedures. I also have a particular interest in obstetric haematology, caring for women with bleeding and clotting disorders before, during and after pregnancy, and helping to ensure safe delivery planning for mothers and babies. My practice incorporates the latest advances in haemophilia care, anticoagulation management and bleeding disorder treatment.
Throughout my career I have managed thousands of patients with both common and rare haematological conditions in specialist centres and large teaching hospitals. I have extensive experience caring for adults and children with bleeding disorders, supporting patients through complex surgical procedures, managing acute bleeding episodes and providing long-term treatment for inherited and acquired coagulation disorders. Alongside my clinical work, I have an active research portfolio and have served as principal investigator, associate principal investigator and co-investigator in numerous national and international clinical trials. My research interests include haemophilia, immune thrombocytopenia, thrombosis and novel haemostatic therapies, and I have presented research at international meetings including the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), European Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders (EAHAD) and British Society for Haematology (BSH). I have also authored peer-reviewed publications and continue to contribute to research that advances patient care.
In addition to my clinical practice, I hold several national and international leadership positions. I am the Centre Director of the Hull Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre, Obstetric Haematology Lead, Hospital Thrombosis and Transfusion Committee at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, a member of the UK Haemophilia Centre Doctors' Organisation (UKHCDO) Inhibitor Working Party, and a member of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Training Subcommittee. I am actively involved in specialist training, mentorship and international education programmes, including supervising haematology trainees and overseas fellows. I regularly lecture nationally and internationally on haemophilia, thrombosis and obstetric haematology and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes through service development, education and research. My aim is to combine cutting-edge treatments with compassionate, patient-centred care that empowers patients to make informed decisions about their health.
