Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist with more than 11 years of experience, specialising in liver disease. This includes conditions such as fatty liver disease and alcohol-related liver problems, as well as the diagnosis and management of viral hepatitis and autoimmune liver disease.
Alongside my work in liver health, I care for people with a wide range of digestive conditions. These include dyspepsia (indigestion), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and other functional bowel disorders that affect how the gut works. I also have a strong interest in nutrition, pancreatology (conditions affecting the pancreas), and gut motility disorders, which helps me take a more holistic approach to understanding and treating digestive symptoms.
A key part of my role is performing endoscopy procedures, which allow me to look inside the digestive tract and diagnose or treat conditions. I carry out gastroscopy (to examine the upper digestive system), colonoscopy (to examine the large bowel), and flexible sigmoidoscopy. These procedures are important for investigating symptoms such as abdominal pain, bleeding, or changes in bowel habits, and they also play a vital role in cancer testing.
To date, I have performed over 5,000 gastroscopies and more than 2,000 colonoscopies.
I also provide a wide range of diagnostic tests, including liver and kidney function tests, as well as checks for iron levels and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. These can help identify underlying causes of symptoms such as fatigue, digestive issues, and nutritional imbalances.
In addition to my clinical practice, I contribute to national guidelines in fatty liver disease and am actively involved in teaching as a Senior Lecturer and endoscopy trainer.
My focus is always on delivering safe, evidence-based care in a clear and reassuring way. I aim to help you feel informed, supported, and confident throughout your treatment journey.
