My expertise includes inherited cholesterol conditions such as familial hypercholesterolaemia, lipoprotein(a), cardiovascular risk assessment, statin intolerance and injectable cholesterol-lowering treatments including PCSK9 inhibitors and Inclisiran, particularly for patients following a heart attack, stent procedure or bypass surgery.

I also specialise in the management of osteoporosis, vitamin D deficiency, osteomalacia and Paget’s disease, alongside providing clinical interpretation and advice on biochemical investigations.

Over the past 10 years within the NHS, I have managed more than 1,500 new patients referred for cholesterol management, including over 140 patients receiving injectable cholesterol therapies, as well as more than 1,250 patients referred with metabolic bone disease.

I am Clinical Lead for the lipid clinic and familial hypercholesterolaemia service at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and led the introduction of the regional familial hypercholesterolaemia genetic testing service across Yorkshire and Humber in 2017.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am involved in postgraduate training in Chemical Pathology within the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery and work as a clinical tutor at Hull University. I am also actively involved in research relating to lipid disorders, cholesterol-lowering therapies and metabolic bone disease, including serving as principal investigator for multicentre cardiovascular outcome trials.
