I graduated from the University of Leeds Medical School in 1998 with an honours Bachelor of Science degree and an honours degree in Medicine and Surgery (MB ChB Hons). I undertook basic and higher surgical training in Yorkshire and passed Fellowship (FRCS Tr & Orth) exams in 2008 and was added to the GMC Specialist Register in 2010.
Two prestigious national knee fellowships provided excellent post-accreditation training in all aspects of knee surgery (including complex ligament and knee trauma surgery). These were completed at major teaching hospitals. I was appointed as a Consultant trauma and knee surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust in September 2014.
I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds and undertake academic teaching of undergraduate medical students and post-graduate orthopaedic trainees. I also serve as a faculty member on many national and regional orthopaedic courses and I have current involvement in the development of techniques for cartilage regeneration. My research work has been presented at international meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals.

Through a single injection into the knee's intra-articular cavity, Arthrosamid® hydrogel cushions the joint and maintains pain relief for up to five years. Unlike surgery, the injection is minimally invasive and performed as an outpatient procedure. The injection takes 15 - 20 minutes to perform.

I was born in Broseley, Shropshire. I spent my childhood in South Wales, but now feel an adopted Yorkshireman having lived in the county since my university days. Outside of surgery, I have a passion for cycling and triathlon where I am strongly competitive at veteran level.
In the winter, I like to indulge in my main sport of skiing. I have three children and enjoy spending my time showing them the wonders of the great Yorkshire countryside, encouraging them to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle.
