I am a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Spire Leeds Hospital and Spire Harrogate Clinic. I have been based at Leeds since 2009 and all of my elective and emergency workload is related to the spine. My training has been in Leeds followed by a spinal fellowship in Nottingham which is one of the premier units of the country. This provided me with complete training in all aspects of spinal surgery.

I am fully competent in spinal procedures ranging from decompressive surgery to minimally invasive to complex spinal instrumentation. One of my key interest is thoracic disc surgery performed minimally invasively through the chest. This is one of the most challenging and high risk spinal procedures performed in our specialty.

I operate on a wide range of patients ranging from the very young to those in the 90s. I firmly believe that age alone should not be the lone criteria to offer potential life changing procedures to patients. 

My practice is evidence based and where necessary, I do joint procedures with colleagues to minimise surgical time and improve the outcome of my patients.

 

My clinical interests focus on the comprehensive management of spinal conditions, with particular expertise in lateral access spinal surgery, complex revision lumbar surgery, and spinal surgery in elderly patients.
I have a strong interest in treating acute foot drop caused by lumbar degenerative disease and in minimally invasive trans‑thoracic surgery for thoracic disc pathology.
My practice also encompasses adult spinal deformity and scoliosis, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, cervical and thoracic decompression, discectomy procedures, and the management of spinal tumours and trauma, including vertebroplasty for spinal fractures.
