I am a consultant spinal surgeon in adult and paediatric spinal conditions. I specialise in keyhole approach (Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery - MIS) to minimise post-operative pain, reduce hospital stay and aid faster recovery.
Among the conditions I treat are back and neck pain with disc prolapse/arthritis and spinal infections. I offer treatments including cervical disc replacement, cervical discectomy and fusion, kyphoplasty / vertebroplasty, lumbar and cervical injections, lumbar discectomy and decompression surgery, lumbar spinal fusion, posterior cervical foraminotomy and spinal fracture fixation.
I graduated in 1995 and completed my basic and higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedic in Yorkshire. I undertook my first post CCT spinal fellowship at the Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. My senior spinal fellowship was at AO Spine reference centre at University Hospital Wales in Cardiff. I undertook fellowship training at the prestigious Imperial College Healthcare London and gained further training in cutting edge latest spinal techniques in Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany and the USA.
I am actively involved in developing and expanding spinal services at Lister Hospital. I am responsible for teaching higher surgical trainees for trauma and spinal surgery. My research interests are in the role of minimally invasive spinal surgery. I have published in peer reviewed scientific journals and have presented my research at numerous national and international conferences.
