I have been a consultant orthopaedic surgeon since 2011, specialising exclusively in the treatment of patients with problems of the shoulder and elbow. My overriding aim is to provide a caring, professional service and effective treatment to all who consult me, using advanced scanning to reach an accurate diagnosis and discuss available treatment options with you. I perform approximately 500 major shoulder and elbow operations per year across my NHS and private practice, including surgery for chronic conditions, sports injuries and acute trauma. 

Conditions I provide treatment for include shoulder impingement, bursitis, rotator cuff problems, frozen shoulder, shoulder and clavicle fractures, arthritis, shoulder instability, dislocations and labral tears, biceps tendon problems, tennis and golfers elbow, ulnar nerve compression. I have a particular interest in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery of the shoulder and in shoulder replacement surgery, including the use of the latest techniques such as 3D printed patient specific instruments for replacement surgery.

I studied medicine at Cambridge University and Imperial College School of Medicine before specialist training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery on the highly regarded North-West Thames rotation in London. I was selected for a prestigious year-long advanced training fellowship in shoulder surgery working with one of the world’s leading surgeons, Professor Pascal Boileau, in Nice, France. My extensive training in complex shoulder and elbow surgery and reconstruction includes completing a fellowship at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

In addition to my clinical practice, I have published several research papers, presented my work at national and international conferences and have been awarded a MD Higher Research degree from the University of London. I am also responsible for teaching higher surgical trainees surgery for trauma and shoulder and elbow disorders and am a faculty member and lecturer on courses held to teach advanced surgical techniques to other consultants. I am Deputy Clinical Director at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and have been awarded several Clinical Excellence Awards.
