I am a Consultant and Clinical Lead in Integrated Pain Services at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital and Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I am an expert in treating common conditions including but not limited to degenerative and arthritic conditions, neck and low back pain, joint pain, sciatica/lumbago, slipped spinal discs, whiplash and sports injuries. My other areas of expertise include cancer pain, headaches and facial pain, migraine, persistent post-surgical pain, fibromyalgia, neuropathic pain and pelvic pain among others.

I consult with more than 1,000 patients every year and have special expertise in management of complex pain conditions. I provide medication management and a wide range of interventions (injection therapy) such as lumbar and cervical epidural injections, facet joint injections, medial branch blocks, sacro-iliac joint injections, hip, knee/other joint  injections, nerve root blocks, trigger point injections, Botox® injections, occipital nerve blocks and other injection therapies. I have special expertise in ultrasound guided pain procedures, peripheral nerve stimulation and radiofrequency denervation/ablation.

My consultation involves a comprehensive assessment and a detailed clinical examination as well as formulation of a diagnosis along with an extensive range of treatments for painful conditions where surgery is neither necessary nor preferred. I work closely with multidisciplinary specialists that involves discussion of patients with complex needs within a specialist clinical team.

I have extensive experience in the multidisciplinary management of pain conditions, the prevalence of which is over 40% in the UK population. My clinical approach is holistic and based upon a bio-psycho-social model that facilitates functional independence and emotional wellbeing offered in a compassionate environment. I am highly qualified in the modern and advanced techniques of pain management.

I have undergone training in world renowned centres of excellence and an advanced pain fellowship at the Guy’s and St Thomas’ University Hospital affiliated to King’s College London School of Medicine. I worked as a Consultant in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and St George’s University Hospital, London. I also worked in General Medicine which enhances my scope of practice with an additional advantage in my clinical approach.

As the Clinical Lead for the Integrated Pain Service at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, I am in charge of overseeing the functioning of the service and conducting and supervising clinical audit and research along with quality assurance and service development.
