Professional profile

I am a consultant psychiatrist and I have worked in private practice for the past 20 years. I see and treat adults with a wide range of problems, including anxiety and stress, depression, alcohol-related issues, paranoid conditions and bipolar disorder. I am also experienced in occupational health assessments and the preparation of medicolegal reports.

I am recognised by all major private health insurance companies and I also accept patients who are self-funding.

An initial consultation will usually last an hour. It will involve an assessment of the problems, diagnosis and an agreed treatment plan tailored to the needs of the individual. Follow up appointments are for 30 minutes, or occasionally 60 minutes if necessary.

I qualified in medicine at St George’s Hospital London in 1979 and following a vocational period spent in general practice, I finished my training in psychiatry at the Royal London Hospital.

I then worked for several years as an NHS Consultant in Hertfordshire, before eventually moving to full-time private practice in 1998. I still enjoy teaching and am actively involved in providing onsite lunchtime and evening seminars to GP colleagues.

For a period of ten years I was an examiner for the Part 1 Exams for the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

I am a co-author of an undergraduate textbook of psychiatry.
