I am a highly esteemed and experienced Oral and Maxillofacial Head and Neck Surgeon who specialises in oral cancer, head and neck cancer, facial skin cancer, salivary gland surgery, wisdom teeth extraction, facial aesthetics, as well as facial pain. I have a special clinical interest in ablation and reconstruction of head and neck cancer and facial skin cancer.

I have completed a training interface group head and neck fellowship in advanced head and neck surgical oncology. I am a Joint Committee Surgical Training recognised head and neck surgeon. I am an accredited micro vascular reconstructive surgeon and a General Medical Council (GMC) recognised surgical trainer and a member of British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and Royal College Surgeons Edinburgh Fellow in good standing. I have joined the Royal College Surgeons Edinburgh faculty of surgical trainers. I am currently the regional specialty advisor for Oral Maxillofacial surgery a post jointly supported by Royal College of Surgeon/British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons /Faculty of Dental Surgery. I am the national Oral Maxillofacial surgery lead for the quality outcomes Maxillofacial Surgery project for head and neck cancer, facial skin cancer, and head and neck reconstruction. I am the deputy editor of the main UK scientific journal for my specialty, and I am elected to become Editor-in-Chief in 2024, for 5 years. I am the chair for the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery specialty training committee and the regional research advisor. I am the national Oral Maxillofacial surgery representative on the training interface group head and neck fellowship committee and the quality assurance lead for training interface group head and neck.

I have graduated both my medical and dental degrees with honours, and I have won multiple scholarships, bursaries, and awards throughout my undergraduate and postgraduate years of training.   

I have been a consultant  Oral Maxillofacial Head and Neck Surgeon since 2014. I moved to East Lancashire Health Trust at the beginning of the COVID pandemic in 2020, to establish an Oral Maxillofacial Head and Neck Head and Neck cancer service. I am currently the Clinical Director for cancer services at East Lancashire Health Trust . I currently hold a bronze national clinical excellence award for my services to the NHS. I am the Chief Investigator of the MANTRA trial, a UK multi centre randomised controlled trial with multi million pound National Institute for Healthcare Research funding, launched in July 2023.

In August 2023 I have been appointed as a visiting Professor in Oral Maxillofacial Head and Neck Surgery at Edge Hill University  

Throughout my career I have been heavily involved in research, education, teaching and training and I have a special interest in surgical innovation and service development.

I am also an accredited medical expert witness and provide medical negligence and personal injury reports within my field of expertise. I am also an expert when it comes to oral lesions excisions, lip lesions removal, fat transfer surgery, jaw cysts removals, lymph node biopsies, blepharoplasties, brow lift surgery, neck lift surgery, and rhinoplasty.
