Specialises in
I am Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon with specialised expertise in sports and soft tissue knee surgery.
My experience in professional sports has given me a deep understanding of the unique requirements of athletes and individuals who place high demands on their knees.
I am proficient in performing arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, including ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, cartilage repair and regeneration, kneecap stabilisation, lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET), complex multi-ligament reconstruction, treatment of young adult arthritis through re-alignment osteotomy, and knee replacement surgery for older patients.
As both a knee surgeon and an avid footballer, I understand the urgency of returning to sports after an injury.
It is essential to recognise that patient’s expectations from their knee treatments often extend beyond mere pain and symptom control to include the ability to engage in various unique recreational and sporting activities. Meeting these expectations fuels my passion for delivering patient-centric and individualised treatment options.
My experience in treating professional athletes has equipped me with the expertise to help patients achieve their optimal physical performance.
Since 2023, I have held a consultant position at the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. I established and lead the soft tissue and sports knee service, and I chair a weekly multidisciplinary meeting with advanced physiotherapy practitioners and fellow knee surgeons.
In addition to this, I am dedicated to training future surgeons and serve as the lead for junior doctors in the orthopaedic and trauma surgery department.
I am deeply committed to research as a means of providing the best possible treatment for my patients. With over 20 peer-reviewed publications and more than 30 international presentations, I currently oversee multiple clinical research projects.
My research includes studies on quadriceps tendon grafts versus hamstring grafts for ACL reconstruction. This expertise allows me to offer personalised surgical options for sports injuries, such as double suspensory ACL reconstruction techniques and quadriceps tendon grafts for elite athletes. I am particularly interested in leveraging technological advancements, often using 3D-printed technology to enhance accuracy in osteotomy surgery.
Additionally, I am the principal investigator for the national REPPORT trial, which explores surgical versus personalised knee therapy for knee instability. I am passionate about practicing evidence-based medicine and driving innovative care in all patient interactions.

As a happily married dad raising two awesome daughters, family time is my top priority outside of work. I'm a huge football fan and you'll catch me on the pitch twice a week for some 6-a-side action. When I'm not chasing after the ball, you'll find me hitting the gym, pumping iron to stay in shape. We love holidays and exploring new places together as a family, and I'm a total movie enthusiast, always down for a movie night with popcorn.
