Professional profile

I am a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist working at Spire Elland Hospital and the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to my practices at local NHS and private hospitals, I have established new Ophthalmology services in the region, expanding the choices available to both NHS and private patients alike.

I have an honours degree in optics at the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (BSc) and then distinction in Medicine (MB BS) from Guys Hospital in London.

My specialist area is in high precision cataract surgery and was was the first ophthalmologist in the UK to use a Zeiss IOL master for optical biometry. I have also published research including recent work on prevention of infection after cataract surgery and a new pathway for cataract surgery. I have recently been appointed clinical lead for Cataracts across West Yorkshire and Harrogate covering a two and a half million population.
