I have over a decade of experience in Neurology, and have dedicated the last two and a half years to serving as an NHS consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I conduct clinics at Leeds General Infirmary and Seacroft Hospitals in Leeds.
My work focuses on providing essential general and tertiary epilepsy services to the communities of West and North Yorkshire. My approach is characterised by a commitment to patient-centred care, striving to meet the needs of each individual with attentiveness and expertise.
I am a general neurologist with a dedicated focus on epilepsy and seizure disorders. My expertise encompasses a comprehensive range of services, including acute seizure (first fit) management, diagnosis of new-onset epilepsy, and advanced care for complex epilepsy cases such as those being considered for epilepsy surgery, VNS and prescribing cutting-edge and specialised medications tailored to individual patient needs.
In addition to my specialisation I look after patients presenting within a broad spectrum of general neurology conditions, such as headaches, dizziness, paresthesia (tingling), tremors, and nerve/ muscle disorders.
I completed my initial medical education at the University of Babylon in Iraq, where I earned a Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery. I then further obtained a Master of Science in Neurology with distinction from the renowned University College London in 2012. Following this postgraduate study I perfected my skills during my neurology training at the Leeds and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. These clinical skills and dedication led to my appointment as a Consultant Neurologist at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
I have an interest in clinical research in the areas of acute seizure management and status epilepticus. My scholarly contributions include several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.
