Specialises in
I am a Consultant in Gynaecology and Urogynaecology based at the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. I also have private practice privileges at Spire Elland Hospital.
I strongly believe in individualised care, a holistic approach and helping women make informed decisions. I am an advocate for promotion of pelvic floor health. I promote the concept of delivery of a package of care via an evidenced based multidisciplinary approach.
I am the Urogynaecology Lead for the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) Pelvic Floor Service. The Pelvic Floor Service comprises urogynaecology, urology, colorectal services, women's health physiotherapy and continence advisory services in Calderdale and Kirklees.
I set up the urogynaecology multidisciplinary team meeting (MDT) and the pelvic floor MDT for Calderdale and consultants, nurses, that work together to make decisions regarding the treatment of individual patients.
The Pelvic Floor Service has been awarded the British Society of Urogynaecology Accreditation. I am actively involved in promotion of women’s health at local, national and international levels.
I actively engage in research. I am a local principle investigator for several United Kingdom multicentre studies. Under my leadership, the CHFT Pelvic Floor Service became part of the British Society of Urogynaecology Research Network since its inauguration. I am the Vice Chair for the British Society of Urogynaecology National Audit Database Committee and an active member of the International Urogynecological Association (IUGA).
I recognise the risk factors to women’s pelvic floor and general health in the modern era. I play an active role in the promotion of women’s pelvic floor health and am a committee member of the International Urogynecological Consultation (IUC) for Pelvic Floor Muscle Training. I have also made contributions to several advisory boards in relation to women’s health.
