I graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Oxford in 2001, and also gained a First Class Honours Degree in Physiological Sciences. I spent periods of elective study in Toronto, Durban and Sydney. I completed my general postgraduate training at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2004.
I was appointed to the London specialist respiratory training programme in 2004, spending the majority of subsequent years at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Kings College Hospital, and St George's Hospital. I was a British Lung Foundation Clinical Research Fellow at Kings College London from 2005 to 2008, and my work led to several publications in leading medical journals. I was awarded a PhD from the University of London in 2011. I have delivered symposia and regularly present at the international meetings of the European Respiratory and American Thoracic Societies.
I was entered on the General Medical Council Specialist Register in 2011, and holds a full time Consultant contract at Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. I run a weekly clinic and bronchoscopy list.
