Specialises in
I have been an NHS consultant since 2010. I'm currently at Charing Cross Hospital and was previously at Frimley Park and St George's Hospital. I manage acute neurology, epilepsy and stroke patients. I see all types of patients but with particular interest in headache, seizures, tremor, Parkinson’s disease, dizziness, walking disturbance and numbness/paraesthesia (burning or prickling sensation).
Neurological treatments are very specialised, and with hundreds of drugs and other treatments for difficult neurological conditions, I have extensive experience with almost all of them. Getting the dose and the selection of drug treatment correct, understanding the side effects and interactions is what I have particular expertise in.
When it comes to procedures, I have performed hundreds of lumbar punctures and thousands of botulinum toxin injections for different conditions including dystonia (involuntarily muscle contractions), migraine, hemifacial spasm and spasticity.
Research is a core NHS value and sustains and progresses what we do in neurology. I am a principle investigator for several clinical trails and collaborate widely with others. Several of my understudies have published their work in major clinical journals recently and won several prestigious prizes for their work.
I am an officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps and the Neurology Consultant Advisor in the British Army. As the only consultant neurologist currently in the armed forces, I am part of 306 Field Hospital (Hospital Support Regiment). I am also a companion member of the Order of Malta.

I have been living in London since 2010 and before that in Dublin. I have been a keen Rugby player and played second row with Blackrock College RFC where many great Irish Rugby players have come from. I love sailing and skippered and crewed in Dublin bay for several years, coming second in a large one design yacht series in 2005.
I love to ski and snowboard. I love music, particularly opera, jazz and some rock. I love to travel around on my motorbike to beat the traffic congestion and get a bit of wind in my face.
