One of my main areas of interest, which I offer at Spire hospitals, is the modern management of varicose veins. I provide endovenous laser treatment alongside the full range of options for managing venous disease. I introduced laser treatment for varicose veins at my base hospital, which has significantly transformed the approach to treatment. This minimally invasive technique avoids the need for large surgical incisions and is both cosmetically appealing and effective.

Assessment includes a detailed ultrasound scan of the veins, which I perform personally during the consultation, allowing for a one‑stop assessment clinic. This provides a clear “road map” of the venous system and supports informed discussion of the most appropriate treatment options. There is no single method suitable for all patients, and I take care to consider individual preferences and expectations. I use clear explanations and diagrams to help patients understand their condition and the available treatment options.

I also have expertise in the surgical repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms. Traditionally, this operation involves a long incision along the abdomen; however, where appropriate, I perform this surgery using a significantly smaller incision.

In addition, I manage patients with severe circulatory problems affecting the legs, often requiring complex and carefully tailored treatment approaches. I routinely perform carotid endarterectomy (stroke prevention surgery), frequently under local anaesthetic to reduce the risks associated with general anaesthesia in selected patients. I also provide vascular access surgery for patients with kidney failure requiring dialysis.
