Professor Ibrahim Malek
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
MBBS, MRCSEd, FRCS (Orth)
My main interests are minimally invasive surgery, computer navigated knee and hip replacements, enhanced recovery after surgery, revision hip and knee surgery and patient reported outcomes.
My pursuit of surgical excellence and finesse took me to South Australia in the footsteps of my mentors for a prestigious fellowship in adult joint reconstruction, recognised by the Australian Orthopaedic Association in Adelaide. This once in a lifetime experience in a different health system with world renowned surgeons provided me with an opportunity to further consolidate my skills and experience in innovative orthopaedic practices. I joined Wrexham Maelor Hospital on my return in January 2018.
I qualified from India in 2002 and completed basic surgical training from Mersey Deanery in 2005. I am proud to be a product of the prestigious Welsh Orthopaedic Training Programme. I have had a special interest in hip and knee replacement procedures since my initial training years - and I performed nearly four times more replacement procedures than expected from an average orthopaedic trainee at the end of their training.
I am a strong advocate of ‘patient centred orthopaedic care’ and this is reflected by the feedback of my patients.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Professor Ibrahim Malek at Spire include:

I hail from a large family and enjoy visiting my siblings spread all over the world. I like spending my time with my beloved wife and three curious children. Most of my time is spent entertaining them and making sure that they grow up as happy and responsible members of a multi-cultural community.
