Professional profile

I have 15 years of experience in Gynaecology. I treat most gynaecological conditions but have particular expertise in the management of pelvic floor problems including vaginal prolapse and urinary incontinence. I offer a wide range of treatments including keyhole surgery, which is one of my special interest areas.

I offer a wide range of conservative as well as surgical treatments including hysterectomy (keyhole, vaginal and abdominal), prolapse repairs, minimally invasive surgery for urinary incontinence (TVT), keyhole surgery for post-hysterectomy prolapse (sacrocolpopexy), as well as open and keyhole surgery for menstrual disorders, fibroids, ovarian cysts, etc.

I have an average of 10 operating sessions per month in my combined NHS and private practice. I perform around 400 surgical procedures per year.

I am the Training Programme Director for the RCOG Subspecialty Training Programme for Merseyside and the Director of Medical Education at Liverpool Women's Hospital NHS Trust. These managerial positions allow me to be heavily involved in Training and Education.

At national and international level I am an active member of a number of committees in the professional organisations of which I am a member of.

I treat most women’s health problems including heavy periods, fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis etc. I have particular expertise in pelvic floor problems including vaginal prolapse (cystocele, rectocele, uterine prolapse); stress urinary incontinence, overactive bladder and urinary tract infections, amongst others. I offer a wide range of treatments for these problems including conservative treatment and surgery whether abdominal, vaginal or keyhole surgery.

In addition to my clinical practice I have a large portfolio of Medico-Legal practice acting as an expert witness and producing medico-legal reports.

Personal Profile

My wife, and my 2 year old daughter deservedly take the majority of my time outside work. We very much enjoy walking in the  park, cycling, soft play centres, or just playing in the back garden. However, I still spare some time for my hobbies: outdoor sports (no longer competitive football, due to age constraints! but golf and 5 a side football), DIY, and reading.
