I have been a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon and Oncologist since 2012. I specialise in gynaecology, gynaecological surgery including complex operations, gynaecological cancers surveillance and treatment, vulval diseases, and menopausal health.
I graduated in Medicine from the University of Cairo, Egypt, in 1997. I earned my MSc in 2001 and my MD in 2005 from the same institution. I was admitted as a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2004.Â
I completed most of my specialist training in Newcastle upon Tyne and Leicester, achieving accreditation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2010. I then pursued advanced training in laparoscopic (minimal access) surgery in Clermont-Ferrand, France, followed by a Fellowship in Gynaecological Oncology at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. In 2011, I was awarded a PhD from the University of Leicester.
In 2012, I was appointed as a Consultant Gynaecological Surgeon and Oncologist at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. In 2020, I moved to Liverpool Women's Hospital, where I continue my NHS practice. I hold two clinical excellence awards, recognising my outstanding patient care, clinical skills, and dedication to teaching and service development.
I hold an Expert Witness Certificate and provide medico-legal reports within my specialty.
I am a prolific author with numerous publications, including peer-reviewed research articles, book chapters, and reviews. I have received multiple research grants focusing on gynaecology and women's health. My work has been presented at national and international conferences, earning several best presentation awards.
As a respected educator and speaker, I have delivered lectures and workshops at regional, national, and international events. I have also organised and led various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. I have been an invited speaker to charity educational events.
I am an active member of numerous professional societies in gynaecological oncology. I have previously served as a member of the Guidelines Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, chaired the NICE Guideline Committee on Heavy Menstrual Bleeding, and acted as Associate Editor of The Obstetrician and Gynaecologist journal. Additionally, I have contributed as an Advisory Board Member for Ethicon Endo-Surgery and Molnlycke Healthcare.
In 2024, I chaired the Local Organising Committee for the British Gynaecological Cancer Society Annual Scientific Meeting in Liverpool.
I continue to make significant contributions to my field, both clinically and academically.
