Specialises in
I have over 8 years of Ophthalmic experience and was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist, Corneal and Refractive Surgeon at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2017. I specialise in surgery to the cornea and lens exclusively. I successfully obtained the sought after certificate in Laser and Refractive Surgery in 2017.
As an anterior segment specialist, I am specifically trained to perform advanced cataract surgery, offering monofocal and multifocal lens implants and surgery for complex eyes including those that have previously undergone laser vision correction or those with high astigmatism. I am trained to perform laser vision correction including LASIK, LASEK, PRK and kera ring implants. Regarding my corneal expertise, I manage all types of corneal and external eye disease, undertake corneal transplant surgery for conditions including corneal scarring, keratoconus and Fuch's endothelial dystrophy. I also offer a full general ophthalmic service.
I have performed over 1,500 cataract operations with visual outcomes surpassing the national standards cited by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. My posterior capsular rupture complication rate is 10 times lower than the national standard.
Yorkshire born and bred, I graduated from Leeds University Medical School with honours in 2008. After a further two years of general medical training I embarked upon seven years of ophthalmic specialist training. To further my expertise, this included a year of advanced subspecialty training in corneal and refractive surgery at St James's University Teaching Hospital, one of Europe's largest teaching hospitals.
I am also an Honorary Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at St James's University Teaching Hospital performing laser eye surgery to NHS patients at St James's Laservision.
