I am a Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital, caring for patients across Hull, East Yorkshire and the surrounding areas. I specialise in minimally invasive, or keyhole, surgery and aim to provide a supportive, patient-centred approach from your first consultation through to recovery.
A major focus of my practice is laparoscopic weight loss surgery. I perform procedures including gastric bypass, gastric band surgery and gastric sleeve surgery (sleeve gastrectomy), as well as revisional bariatric procedures. I also treat a wide range of upper gastrointestinal and general surgical conditions, regularly carrying out hernia repair for abdominal wall, groin and hiatus hernias, gallbladder removal surgery (cholecystectomy), and gastroscopy investigations.
I have extensive experience in the treatment of acid reflux, offering both non-surgical treatments such as Stretta and anti-reflux surgery where appropriate. My practice also includes the management of obesity-related conditions, laparoscopic and minimal access surgery, and prompt assessment and treatment for acute abdominal pain, including appendicitis.
I have a particular interest in oesophageal and gastric cancers and work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide expert diagnosis and surgical care tailored to each patient. In addition, I perform upper GI endoscopy and a range of minor surgical procedures, including pilonidal sinus surgery, lipoma and sebaceous cyst removal, and treatment for ingrowing toenails.
I became a Consultant at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2006, where I have led the regional Upper GI cancer service. Alongside my clinical work, I have contributed to medical education as an Honorary Clinical Tutor. My surgical training began at a university teaching hospital in North India before continuing in the Yorkshire region.
Today, I work closely with specialist colleagues to manage both routine and complex surgical cases, always focusing on delivering safe, personalised care for every patient.
