MB ChB, FRCS (Gen)Edinburgh, FRCS(Gen)England
I have been a Consultant Surgeon at Hull Royal Infirmary since 1996, working within the Division of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery and specialising in minimally invasive, or keyhole, techniques. Over the years, I have focused on providing surgical care that aims to minimise recovery time and support patients in returning to their normal activities as smoothly as possible.
My main clinical interests are in upper gastrointestinal surgery, which involves conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach and upper digestive tract, along with minimally invasive procedures that use small incisions rather than traditional open surgery. These techniques can often result in less discomfort and a quicker recovery for suitable patients.
In addition, I have a strong interest in bariatric surgery, which supports patients with weight management when other approaches have not been successful. I also specialise in endocrine surgery, including procedures involving the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands, which play an important role in regulating hormones within the body.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in surgical education. I am committed to sharing my knowledge and helping to train the next generation of surgeons, ensuring high standards of care continue for patients in the future.
