I am a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon specialising in conditions affecting the colon, rectum and anal canal. I trained initially in Liverpool before completing my higher surgical training across the Yorkshire region. To further develop my expertise, I undertook a fellowship in advanced pelvic malignancy in Christchurch, New Zealand, before being appointed as a Consultant in Hull in 2009.
My practice includes general, abdominal and emergency surgery, with a particular focus on colorectal and anorectal conditions. I aim to provide patients with clear advice, thorough assessment and personalised treatment to help them feel informed and supported throughout their care.
I provide a wide range of diagnostic and surgical procedures for bowel investigation, screening and treatment. This includes colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, which are used to examine the bowel and help diagnose a variety of conditions.
I regularly treat common anorectal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulae and anal warts, alongside more complex colorectal disorders. I also perform hernia surgery, including incisional hernia repair.
My experience in colorectal surgery includes bowel resection procedures and the formation of colostomy and ileostomy when required. In addition, my work in coloproctology includes the management of advanced pelvic malignancy, ensuring patients receive specialist care throughout their treatment journey.
