I specialise in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of rheumatological conditions, including connective tissue disorders, inflammatory joint diseases, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, vasculitis, inflammatory myositis and soft tissue rheumatology.
I completed my basic medical training and specialist training in general medicine in South Africa before moving to the UK to further develop my expertise in rheumatology. I spent six years at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath, undertaking a clinical fellowship in rheumatology while also completing a PhD at the University of Bath.
Following this, I worked for three years as a Consultant and Senior Lecturer at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of Cape Town. In May 2001, I was appointed Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist at Hull Royal Infirmary, and in 2007 I became an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have a strong interest in teaching and clinical research and continue to enjoy supporting medical education alongside patient care.
My particular clinical interests include connective tissue disorders, inflammatory arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. I aim to provide thorough assessment, clear explanations and personalised treatment plans to help patients manage their symptoms, maintain mobility and improve their quality of life.
