Spire Harrogate Clinic launches premium whole-body MRI health check

24 July 2025

Spire Harrogate Clinic recently launched their Premium Whole Body MRI Check The MRI scan covers the brain, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and spine, as well as an extensive panel of blood tests with same-day results. It is delivered over two appointments and led by Spire GPs and consultant radiologists at the recently opened clinic in North Yorkshire.

Patients are first assessed by a GP and undergo blood testing. Three days later, they return for the MRI scan, followed by a face-to-face consultation with a consultant radiologist to discuss the findings. Results from the blood tests and scan are then reviewed with a Spire GP, who can arrange further investigations or referrals as needed.

The new service is designed to identify a range of conditions before symptoms develop, including some cancers, vascular disease, degenerative conditions such as arthritis, and organ abnormalities.

Whole-body MRI is increasingly being used as a proactive screening tool. The new service may be considered if patients have a strong family history of certain diseases such as cancer or cardiovascular disease. This will help provide a baseline for the patient to monitor their long term health.

Consultant Radiologist Dr Simon Burbidge said: "Using the latest MRI technology in Spire’s brand new clinic in North Yorkshire, we can provide people with a comprehensive overview of their current health. In safe and comfortable surroundings, my GP colleagues and I will provide expert clinical insights to scan and blood test results and welcome questions about their health."

Spire Harrogate Clinic general manager Tim Cook added: "This innovative advancement not only enhances the excellent standard of care we’re known for at Spire Harrogate Clinic but also offers peace of mind to our local community and beyond."
