Specialises in

I trained at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School (now part of University College London) and undertook basic surgical training at St. Thomas Hospital before undertaking specialist urological training at the Institute of Urology in London. During my training I was appointed Clinical Lecturer in Urological Cancer at Queen Mary University where I developed an interest in the genetics of prostate cancer and the role of chromosomal translocations and fusion genes in disease aetiology.

I have been awarded a number of national and international awards including the Bard Medal from the British Association of Urological Surgeons, the Urological Research Society Medal of Great Britain and the international C.E Alken Medal. I have written over 100 hundred papers, abstracts and book chapters and have presented at national and international meetings around the world.

I am a member of the national training committee for urology (SAC) and have a number of other educational roles as Foundation Program Director and Clinical Tutor. I am a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons. In addition to my urological practice, I have a particular expertise in robotic surgery and retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery. I am Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons.
