"Spire Fylde Coast has an excellent team of dedicated staff who are helpful, professional and committed to the delivery of patient centred care."
I completed Specialist Registrar training in the North West of England. Following a two year period of research into gastric cancer, I was awarded the Doctorate of Medicine (MD) degree (University of Liverpool). I subsequently trained in advanced endoscopic techniques (colonoscopy, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound) as an advanced endoscopy fellow in the professorial unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. I was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Blackpool Teaching Hospital in 2012 and am currently the lead clinician for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
In addition to general gastroenterology, my specialist interests include:
- endoscopy (all aspects of diagnostic, therapeutic such as polyp removal, and cancer surveillance of the oesophagus, stomach and colon)
- dyspepsia management (heartburn, indigestion)
- irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease
- diseases of the liver and pancreas
I am a certified endoscopy trainer and teach at the Mersey School of Endoscopy (National Endoscopy Training Centre) and I actively pursue clinical research.
COVID-19 testing or antibody tests are not available as a standalone service at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital.
