I am a Consultant in General and Colorectal Surgery with a specialist focus on conditions affecting the colon, rectum and anus.
I investigate and treat patients with bowel symptoms such as changes in bowel habit, rectal bleeding and abdominal pain, and manage a wide spectrum of conditions including haemorrhoids, anal fissures, fistulae, pilonidal sinus disease, anal skin tags, rectal prolapse and perianal abscesses.
In my NHS practice, I regularly perform major bowel surgery, often at least once a week, for conditions such as bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohnās disease and ulcerative colitis), diverticular disease, and stoma-related problems such as hernias and narrowing. Furthermore, I undertake stoma formation, haemorrhoid procedures (including banding, THD and haemorrhoidectomy), and complex colorectal operations.
In addition to my colorectal practice, I provide a broad range of general surgical services, including open hernia repairs and surgery for lumps and bumps.
I am a JAG-accredited endoscopist and have performed more than 1,500 lower GI procedures (colonoscopies and flexible sigmoidoscopies) and over 1,000 gastroscopies. I also regularly remove large and complex polyps from the colon.
I have a distinguished history of surgical training and experience in both the UK and internationally. I have been working as a Consultant in the NHS, providing a comprehensive service for a wide range of general and colorectal surgical conditions.
My surgical training began with a rigorous five-year postgraduate programme in Pakistan, where I was awarded the Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in 2009. Following my move to the UK, I continued my professional development, achieving the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 2018. I then further honed my expertise through a two-year specialist colorectal fellowship at Hull University Teaching Hospitals. This invaluable experience equipped me with advanced skills in managing both benign and malignant conditions of the colon, rectum and anus.
