North Wales clinic champions community wellness with expert-led knee pain session
13 October 2025
In their ongoing commitment to patient education, Spire Abergele Clinic recently held an interactive free patient education event for their local community. Focused on knee pain and treatment options, the event welcomed members of the local community for an informative and engaging evening led by Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Muthu Ganapathi.
Mr Ganapathi delivered an expert talk covering the full spectrum of knee pain management, from symptoms and diagnosis to both surgical and non-surgical interventions, including recovery pathways. His insights provided attendees with a deeper understanding of the causes of knee pain and the latest treatment options available.
“It was a highly rewarding evening with a strong turnout. I was pleasantly surprised by how engaged the audience remained throughout—asking thoughtful questions right up until the end of a nearly two-hour session. We explored a wide range of treatment options for knee pain, from lifestyle measures such as weight reduction to surgical interventions, including a live demonstration of robotic-assisted knee replacement. The discussion also covered Arthrosamid injection, a newly available nonoperative option that may benefit selected patients with knee arthritis.” said Mr Muthu Ganapathi.
A highlight of the evening was the live demonstration of the ROSA® robotic surgical assistant, used in knee replacement procedures. Mr Ganapathi, alongside representatives from Zimmer Biomet, showcased the robot in action, even simulating bone cutting on faux models, an exciting and interactive experience for attendees.

Clinical Services Manager, Jess Booker also introduced Arthrosamid®, a cutting-edge injectable hydrogel treatment for knee osteoarthritis. Unlike traditional steroid injections, which typically offer relief for 2–3 months, Arthrosamid® has been shown to provide pain relief for up to four years, offering a promising alternative for long-term management. The Clinic recently began performing the day-case procedure and was thrilled to share some of the feedback from patients who had recently received the treatment.
The evening concluded with moving testimonials from patients who had undergone treatment with Mr Ganapathi, sharing their personal journeys and outcomes. Their stories added a powerful and emotional dimension to the event, reinforcing the life-changing impact of accessible, expert care.
The event was a sell-out, warmly received by attendees, and even covered by Abergele TV, who filmed the evening and shared it on their YouTube channel for wider community access.
