Rheumatology deals with the care of patients with conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system, including joint diseases (arthritis), bone and muscle diseases, and conditions affecting soft tissues.
At Spire Hull & East Riding Hospital, our rheumatologists work as part of a multi-disciplinary team which includes physiotherapists and specialist nurses. They liaise with other hospital specialists and have close links with general practitioners, ensuring appropriate early specialist referral and ongoing care of patients with joint problems.
Our rheumatology consultants provide treatment for:
- Undifferentiated inflammatory arthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Connective tissue disease
- Osteoporosis
- Soft tissue rheumatism
