I am an experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in hip and knee replacement surgery, offering private treatment at Spire Hull Hospital for patients across Hull, East Yorkshire and nearby areas. I have a particular interest in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), which focuses on modern anaesthetic techniques, excellent pain control and early, safe mobilisation. This approach helps reduce complications after surgery and supports faster recovery, often allowing patients to return home the same day or the day after their operation.

I am the lead surgeon for the day‑case joint replacement pathway at Spire Hull Hospital. Where appropriate, this allows suitable patients to be discharged on the day of surgery, with most others going home within 24 hours. I perform the SPAIRE muscle‑ and tendon‑sparing hip replacement, which preserves soft tissues and provides an exceptionally stable hip joint. This technique is particularly beneficial for active patients wishing to return to work or sport, as well as for those with spinal conditions who may be at higher risk of dislocation. I also offer computer‑navigated knee replacement surgery, which improves accuracy and joint balance.

My training took place in Leeds, Yorkshire and the Northeast of England, followed by specialist hip and knee replacement training at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital in Glasgow. I am currently Clinical Director for Orthopaedics at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and North Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust, Clinical Chair for Orthopaedics within the Humber and North Yorkshire ICB, and an Honorary Lecturer at Hull York Medical School.

Alongside hip and knee replacement, I treat joint pain using injections, joint manipulation, revision hip surgery, osteotomy and other arthroplasty procedures, always aiming to achieve the best possible outcome for each patient.
