BSc, MBBS, MRCP(UK), MRCP (London) FRCP (Edin)
I am a Consultant Rheumatologist and Physician with a specialist focus on diagnosing and managing a wide range of rheumatological conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue disease, inflammatory rheumatic disorders, osteoporosis, back pain, soft tissue rheumatism and chronic pain management.
I completed my MBBS at Calicut University, India, before undertaking postgraduate training in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine at the Yorkshire Deanery, which I completed in 2010. Since September 2010, I have worked as a Consultant Rheumatologist at Hull Royal Infirmary, where I established an Early Inflammatory Arthritis Clinic to support early diagnosis and targeted treatment, helping improve long-term outcomes for patients.
Alongside my clinical work, I have developed local guidelines for the management of temporal (giant cell) arteritis and worked closely with GPs across the region to enhance early recognition and treatment. I have also served as Clinical Governance Lead for Rheumatology Services in Hull and East Riding since 2010, ensuring high standards of patient care and continuous service improvement.
I am actively involved in patient education and empowerment, maintaining close links with Hull and East Riding Arthritis Care (HERAC). Through regular talks and support, I have contributed to patient self-management initiatives and helped the group achieve both regional and national recognition.
My special clinical interests include early inflammatory arthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica, temporal arteritis, gout, lupus and other autoimmune diseases, systemic vasculitis and fibromyalgia. I am committed to delivering personalised, evidence-based care to support patients in managing their condition and improving their quality of life.
