vNOTES : The future of gynaecological surgery at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital
03 July 2025
vNOTES - short for Transvaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery, was developed to improve surgical outcomes of a hysterectomy. Instead of accessing the woman’s reproductive organs by abdominal surgery or keyhole incisions, vNOTES permits the access is through a woman’s vagina using the most advanced technology available.
The vNOTES hysterectomy provides better surgical visibility and increased access to remove the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. The result is a shorter hospital stay (often less than 24 hours), less pain, no external incisions required, and no visible scarring.

vNOTES can be used for the following conditions:
- Fibroids
- Adenomyosis
- Uterine prolapse
- Abnormal uterine bleeding
- Chronic pelvic pain
