I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2006 after graduating from Sheffield Hallam University. Following completion of my degree, I began my career at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a rotational Band 5 physiotherapist. During this time, I gained valuable experience across a range of core physiotherapy areas, developing skills in rehabilitation and delivering holistic, patient-centred care.
In 2015, after gaining experience in burns and plastic surgery, I developed a strong interest in hand therapy and secured a static post within the outpatient hand therapy team. I have since built extensive expertise in the clinical assessment and treatment of a wide variety of hand and wrist conditions.
These include post-operative cases such as Dupuytren’s contracture, trapesiectomy, tendon repairs, joint replacement surgeries, and ligament injuries/repairs, as well as acquired conditions like De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, tendonitis, osteoarthritis, and wrist sprains/strains. I am proficient in both the fabrication and application of hand splints, alongside delivering hands-on therapeutic interventions.
I continue to work clinically within the NHS and have recently joined Spire Fylde Coast to provide a dedicated hand therapy service.
